DATA ANALYTICS AND MANAGEMENT NON-THESIS MASTER'S PROGRAM COURSE CONTENTS

Course contents may vary depending on the instructor teaching the course or the current needs of the students taking the course. Additionally, not all courses presented here may be offered every semester.

FALL SEMESTER COURSES

Big Data Analysis Objective: The necessary technologies and methods for Big Data Analysis are explained, and the necessary technologies for big data analysis are demonstrated with a set of libraries based on Python technologies. Content: NumPy, Pandas, Seaborn, Scipy, Tensorflow, Matplotlib.

Artificial Intelligence Algorithms Objective: To learn the logic and operation of machine learning, and to use machine learning algorithms practically on real-life data. Content: Introduction to machine learning, supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, cost function, regression, logistic regression, artificial neural networks, Knime.

Next Generation Web Technologies Objective: The student can design and manage a website using next-generation web technologies. Content: Visual interface design, page/site design and publishing with a web design editor, site design with current web infrastructures.

Computer Applied Data Analysis Objective: To have theoretical knowledge about data analysis and to be able to make applications using a computer. Content: Descriptive statistics, estimation theory, correlation analyses, and hypothesis testing with R, Python, SPSS, and STATA programs.

Computer Applied Forecasting and Prediction Objective: To have theoretical knowledge about forecasting methods and to be able to apply forecasting methods using a computer. Content: Forecasting concept, decomposition methods, exponential smoothing methods, time series regressions, ARIMA and SARIMA models, R, Python, and E-views applications.

Modeling and Optimization Objective: Expressing real-life problems mathematically and using methods that will help find the best solution with the help of relevant software packages will be covered. Content: Model building examples, Linear programming, Goal programming, Compromise programming, Transportation-Assignment Problems.

Probability Theories Objective: To recognize probability theories and determine their place in science. Content: What is probability? When was probability theory born? Why was it born? How many types of probability are there?

Statistical Analysis Objective: The aim of this course is to provide information about the fundamental concepts of statistics and statistical studies. Content: The content of this course consists of a general review of basic statistical techniques.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE DATA ANALYTICS AND MANAGEMENT NON-THESIS MASTER'S PROGRAM

1- How many semesters does the program last?

The Data Analytics and Management Non-Thesis Master's program lasts for 3 semesters. To graduate, a total of 10 courses and 1 term project must be taken. The Institute of Social Sciences deems it appropriate to take 5 courses each in the 1st and 2nd Semesters and to prepare a term project in the last semester. The term project is prepared under the supervision of a faculty member.

2- How much is the tuition fee for the program?

Course fees are announced by the institute every semester (The announced fee is an hourly rate. Each course is charged as 3 hours, and the term project as 2 hours.) For the 2022-2023 academic year, 1st Semester is 11,250 TL, 2nd Semester is 11,250 TL, 3rd Semester is 1,500 TL; the total cost is 24,000 TL.

3- At what times are the classes held?

Classes are generally held in the evening hours, after 17:30.

4- On which days will the classes be?

Although it varies depending on the courses to be offered and the ones you choose, you may need to schedule them over at least 3 days.

5- Who teaches the courses?

The courses are taught by faculty members from the Department of Econometrics, Computer Engineering, and the Department of Informatics.

6- Is a language certificate or ALES required?

To register for the program, it is sufficient to hold a bachelor's degree from any department. A language certificate and ALES are not required.

7- Is attendance mandatory for the classes?

Yes, attendance is mandatory, and classes are held face-to-face on the Akdeniz University Campus. If the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) decides on online education instead of face-to-face education, the classes will be conducted according to this decision.
